Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using Film Palace ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access the Service.

Description of service

Film Palace is a private, personal web application that allows users to catalogue and explore their relationship with films. Core features include: a personal movie palace, rooms, notes, mood tagging, and an AI-powered Archivist. Movie metadata is provided by The Movie Database (TMDB).

Account registration

  • You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
  • You may not create accounts on behalf of others without their explicit consent.

Your content and data

  • Ownership. You retain full ownership of all notes, memories, tags, and personal content you add to your palace.
  • License to operate. You grant Film Palace a limited licence to store and process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
  • Privacy. Your palace is private by default. We do not display your content to other users. See our Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to access other users' private data or circumvent authentication.
  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or abuse the Service in a way that degrades performance for others.
  • Upload or transmit malware, harmful code, or illegal content.
  • Use automated means to access the Service without our written permission.

TMDB attribution

Movie metadata (titles, posters, release dates, descriptions) is provided by The Movie Database (TMDB). Film Palace is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Use of TMDB data is subject to the TMDB API Terms of Use.

Intellectual property

The Film Palace name, logo, design, and original code are owned by Film Palace. TMDB content is owned by TMDB and its contributors. You may not reproduce or redistribute Film Palace's proprietary materials without written permission.

Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FILM PALACE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. Upon termination, your palace data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, by email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation before pursuing formal legal proceedings.
